Higher Education Bond Act Passes

November 7, 2012

Members of the Rutgers Community:

Congratulations! New Jersey voters by a 62 percent to 38 percent margin approved the ballot question to authorize the state to issue $750 million in new debt for higher education facilities. Passage of the enabling legislation and the ballot question were top priorities for Rutgers.

The success of this campaign is due in no small part to volunteer efforts by our students and alumni leaders and the very generous contributions of several members of the Rutgers boards. I can’t thank all of you enough for your help.

Our efforts included a balanced media campaign along with an aggressive grassroots get-out-the-vote program, and the results speak for themselves. Our goal was to not only win at the polls yesterday; our goal was to win big. We accomplished our mission.

Thanks again for everything you did to make the campaign a success.

Sincerely,

Bob Barchi
